Making the mind map for UNDERSTANDING the article “PowerPoint is Evil”
Personally, I have a hard time making mind maps. I know that I can gather my thoughts but separating them into specific categories is like trying to gather all the sand in a beach (which is impossible unless you have the resources to) for me.
But when Sir Borra, my English professor, put everyone into groups it was Lourde (groupmate) who made the mind map. It turned out great but made me feel useless until we were told to research for quotes supporting our stand in the mind map. At least there was something I could do to contribute. …that’s what I’d like to believe…
I understand completely what the author is trying to voice out but I disagree with his thoughts about Power point. When I read through the article for the first time I understood that he has a point about it “dumbing” us down since we may depend on it too much during presentations. But it’s actually really helpful if you use it properly.
Thinking about it, people have different perspectives and have different ways of doing things so just bashing how PowerPoint lowers the comprehension of children is just your own way of viewing it.
In the end, I was able to understand the article a little bit better than just reading it because after taking some time to finish my work, go through lots of book in the library with my group, and discuss about the mind map with everyone, the different advantages and disadvantages of using a Power point was emphasized. With that, my mind was satisfied and never felt so clear and at peace…
